With that out of the way lets get on to the nitty gritty:
July Birchbox Unboxing!!!
I love how bright the box is this month! It's super cute! It reminds me of my childhood, scrunchies, side ponytails, ratted hair, jelly shoes, the works!
The theme this month is go bold and they certainly did with the packaging (inside and out!)
So I have to say I was disappointed when I opened my Birchbox this month. I already knew I was going to get a lipstick that I wouldn't touch, then I saw the perfume sample. My hubby is allergic to just about all perfume so I can't wear this. Not to mention it is way too floral for me anyways. I suppose I will have to find a new home for this one.
Also when I saw that I received more shampoo and conditioner samples, *sigh* The shampoo is at least a generous size but the little foil packets annoyed me. That is until I saw that they were technically not an official part of my box but an add on. Still, I went on Birchbox and switched up my profile a bit hoping to land some more beauty products and less shower related items.
So back to this lipstick. Even though I knew bright lips weren't my thing I had to give it a try. I did a quick swatch on my arm and let me tell you this stuffs not playing around. It's just as bright on as in the tube. Not to mention it won't come off. At all. Not even after scrubbing. Not even after several hand washings and a shower. It's like I used a Sharpie and not lipstick!
I forgot to take a picture of the swatch and I hope you'll forgive me for not doing another one because I don't think my skin can handle the amount of exfoliation it takes to remove this!
I also received Supergoop sunscreen serum. It's a cool concept. I don't always want a heavy lotion for sunscreen so this serum is a great option. I just wish there was more of it so I could run it through the paces at the beach. Unfortunately the small sample will have to work for a face only application on gardening day instead.
Last and certainly my most favorite of the bunch is the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in Linen. Considering I listed myself as super pale on my profile I'm surprised they sent out a color darker than Porcelain for me. But it worked out for the best because it is summertime and I happen to have a bit more color than normal.
I like this a lot. I am currently using Estee Lauder Double Wear All-Day Glow BB cream and I've found that it makes my face a bit too shiny and greasy looking. Jouer is nice because it has a matte finish and I don't have to apply a veil to tone down the shine (because there is none!!) I wish there was more in this little tube, but I'm going to squeeze every little bit out while I still have a tan!
My conclusion on this months Birchbox is disappointment. I'm really only happy with one of the products this month. The rest I could do without. Hopefully next month will be better because I signed up for a year upfront!
Still the Jouer matte tint was a great find so I suppose the box was worth it in the long run.
