At first I thought there was only one box so I purchased two. One for me and one for my mother-in-law that loves these things too. Then after telling a co-worker about the box I realized there was another one! Luckily I was able to score that one as well. So let's see how I did for $5 a box, shall we?
First up is the Honor Roll box (this is the one I purchased two of):
I was impressed with the size of this box. I'm used to the smaller packaging that beauty boxes come in, but this one was large. A perfect square all around. Perhaps it was this way to fit the pouf, but still its impressive to see two of these stacked and waiting for you!
The highest value item in this box was the Covergirl Outlast all-day primer that retails at Target for $9.79 (right there, the box is paid for!) I'm excited to give this a try. I currently use just a BB cream and no primer, so it's a good experiment without having to spend a lot of money.
Next up was the Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes that retail for $5.99 a pack. I was kind of excited about this item but if you look closely at the top of my package... it's open! The towelettes inside were all dried out. Now if I was a mean daughter-in-law I could take the ones from the other box, but I won't because I'm nicer than that. Besides I have another towelette sample coming up!
Also in the box was a NYX Butter Gloss in the color Strawberry Parfait that retails for $4.99. I love getting lip-glosses in my beauty boxes. I think they are more forgiving with different skin tones than lipsticks are. And they are my chap-stick tinted alternative! I always welcome more.
Next up I received the John Frieda 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. This is a sample size so I'm not sure how to place the value, however, I have seen it selling on eBay for around $4 so I'm going with that. With my fine hair I'll definitely give this product a try!
Then there is a 3oz sample of Olay Fresh Outlast Cooling White Strawberry & Mint Body Wash. Again this is a sample size but I remember this one being $2 at Target. It smells nice enough, I'll have to take a shower with it to see what they mean by "cooling"
I liked that they also sent a shower pouf from The Bathery with this body wash. I can always use a new pouf and this just so happens to be brand I purchase. The pouf retails for $2 as well.
Also included in this box were hair ties, just three of them so a retail of 50 cents maybe a dollar? I'm not sure. I don't need these because I keep my hair short so off to a better home they go!
All together the box retails for around $30. I would say that's a great value for only $5. Now you can see why these sell out so quickly!
I also indulged in the Head of the Class Box. Again only $5!
The Covergirl Colorlicious Lip Gloss and the Herbal Essences Oil Spray tied for the most value in this box. They both retail for $5.99.
I'm in love with this lip gloss! Its a pleasant texture. It doesn't have a funny taste. And most importantly it lives up to the claim that it is NOT sticky! Also they gave a nice sheer soft pink that is perfect for my skin tone!
Because I have fine hair that can get oily very quickly I tend to stay away from oil sprays. I think I'll pass this one on to the in-law. She will love it!
I have been getting a lot of mascaras in boxes lately! I don't think I will ever run out!!! Still this Wet n' Wild Volume Plus Mascara retails for $4.99 and will be put on the sidelines for when another one bites the dust!
Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Facial Towelettes are perfect for a mid-afternoon or post-gym freshen up. I've tried these before and love them. This is also why I wasn't too upset at my dried out Burt's Bees towelettes. These retail for $2.99.
Another Bathery item shows its face in this box. It's a pumice stone. Great for exfoliating those super dry spots like heels and elbows. This retails for $1.99
Finally the two items that I'm not sure how to price. Again more hair ties ~$1 and some fashion tape samples ~2?? I will have to try these for those blouses that keep popping a button open, this seems like a great idea.
This box adds up to a grand total of ~$25. Again a great value for only $5!
What did you all think of the Target boxes? Are you convinced yet to purchase one?
Take care!
~Jeanette
