But no worries, I've still been getting my boxes and taking pictures so without further ado,
The July Julep Unboxing!!
I had a hard time picking out my box this month for Julep. It's all the new and wonderful products they keep coming out with. So because I was able to snag a free bonus lipstick in this months box, I decided to go with more of a makeup theme than I'm used to. Let's see how it goes.
First up is Alexa, a Hyacinth creme. I chose this polish because I didn't have a pale purple in my arsenal. Which is a shame because I'm pale and pastels especially purples I can rock out!
Then I decided to go with a girly color and picked a nice pink, it's called Juliana and it is a pink grapefruit iridescent color. And let me tell you, it did go on sheer! But it is a lovely color and I'm quite happy with it. Perfect for summer!
Now on to the product I've been eyeing for a few months. I didn't really believe in highlighting powders until I got my Tarte palette and fell in love with bronze, blush and highlight combo. Unfortunately I found the Tarte highlighter in the palette to be a bit hard to get to and it also is starting to get a bit clumpy.... Because of this I gave Julep's highlighting powder, Glow, a try.
Boy was I happy that I took the risk. This stuff is great and a little goes a long way! I couldn't be happier and this makes me want to try out some of Julep's other makeup products in the future.
This has the perfect amount of shimmer and luminosity to it, while still remaining more natural looking. Also kudos to Julep because the formulation is wonderful, no clumping issues like the Tarte highlighter!
Now on to my freebie that I was gifted. (I love getting extras!!!) I had a choice between a base coat or a lipstick. Since I have plenty of base coat I decided to take this opportunity to try out Julep Maven's lipstick in the color Twirl.
I have to say that the magnets in the packaging is a nice touch. It keeps the lid on without having to twist or click. Not to mention that the lipstick tube is quite sturdy. (It's almost heavy)
Unfortunately, I'm not so sure about this product. First is the smell. It kind of reminds me of my crayon box when I was a kid. Very waxy smelling. Second is the texture. It kind of goes on like a crayon. Its super dry and the application is a little rough (it pulls at your lips because it's so waxy) Third, and this one is a positive negative, it stays on very well. Positive... Yay! That's what lipstick should do!!! Negative... Whoa! This color is a little bright, get it off... oh no! I can't.
I digress. This actually looks quite nice under a lip gloss so I will be using it for the colors staying power. I just wish it didn't smell like crayons.
Overall I am in love with this months Julep box and I'm so glad I switched out the cuticle cream for this highlighting powder that has now become part of my everyday routine!
Remember be kind to thyselves!
