Needless to say after such a odd goodbye I was happy to see my Birchbox waiting for me when I got home. It was happily unexpected because the shipping wasn't updated on my account.
Love the look of the box, it matched the sunset that I came home to. Birchbox sent out an email earlier in the week explaining that the advertising that they did for the Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliners (saying one was in every box) would be for next month because their shipment got stuck in customs. They went on to explain that they would include a favorite sample in every box as a replacement. I was excited to see what they came up with!
Every box also came with a code to win a prize, I got 10% off in the Birchbox store. (I don't know if I consider coupons a prize... so I was a bit disappointed) Is there anyone out there that got something better??
Here is a peek inside the box:
I must say I was immediately thrilled with this Birchbox! This looked like a box where I would use everything up!!
My sample choice selection this month was the Dermaclear Micro Water by Dr.Jart+
I snatched this right out of the box and tried it right away. I had a long day at work and my face felt gross. I didn't have time to put on makeup that morning so whatever this tiny bottle of magic pulled off my skin was dirt accumulation from the day.
You know what? This stuff WORKS. It pulled dirt off my face left it clean and refreshed feeling and had me saying ewww..... to the cotton ball in my hand when I was done. I must have created quite the ruckus because my husband came into the bathroom to see what I was doing. When I told him he said "give me a cotton ball of that stuff." I did, and he too looked down at it and made the ewww face as well.
Even my hubby was impressed with this product stating that the dead skin patch on his forehead he couldn't get rid of was now gone. He nodded when I mentioned purchasing a full sized version of this, so it must be a winner!
The next item I got out of my Birchbox was this Marcelle Mini Waterproof Eyeliner in Mulberry. I couldn't tell the color at first but it appears to be a purpley-black that applies smoothly and looks smokey.
Templespa Good Hair Day Shampoo was also in my June Birchbox. It has a very patchouli and ylang ylang scent to it which is nice, however, I stick with the more fruity scents for my showering routine. I think I will have my hubby try this one out. It seems a more manly scent than I would want in my hair.
I liked that Birchbox also sent Templespa In Good Condition Conditioner, it was like receiving a matching set. This conditioner smells divine and I will definitely give it a try. Its refreshing and pepperminty with undertones of herbs and flowers. It also contains avocado oil which is great for the skin and hair.
This Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel has me intrigued. You basically rub it around on your face for 3 minutes and it removes all the dead skin. Cleanse afterwards and apparently your skin will glow. I almost want to make my hubby try this after his forehead skin comment. Maybe we both will.
This cute little headband seems to be the add-on favorite that they said would be in the box. I don't normally wear a headband because I have shorter hair, but I'll put it to use when doing a face mask for sure! Maybe even while gardening to catch those pesky fly-aways.
Overall I am quite pleased with my Birchbox this month. I will use almost every item (the shampoo my hubby will use)
I can't wait to play around with the micro water some more and see how it removes makeup. I'll keep you all updated!
