June Yarnbox Unboxing...

Happy day everyone!  I love, love, love that Yarnbox has warnings on the outside of the box about happiness.  Truly, this box does cause extreme happiness for me.

This is only my second Yarnbox and I am even more in love than I was before! This June box is such a treat!

Shall we take a peek inside and see what treats were sent this month??  Oh, and just a reminder... I avoid spoilers for this box.  I want to be surprised at least by one thing a month. Everything else out there has you picking out your samples or spoilers everywhere.

Kudos to Yarnbox for actually making it easier to avoid spoilers! They wait until the next months shipment is out before they start posting about the yarn from the previous month.  I think they do a great job keeping the surprise for us folks that like surprises.  Also they control the spoilers in their Ravelry group. So really, kudos Yarnbox.

I am in love with this box!  The color is so pretty and rich. I can't believe I almost crossed out pink as an option in my boxes!  I'm so glad I didn't because I would have missed out on this beauty!!!

I've been wanting to try out Mrs. Crosby yarn for a while but I have been holding off because my stash is growing faster than it is shrinking.(*sigh* yes I know this box doesn't help the problem... but... YARN!)  I essentially have banned any yarn purchases unless I have a specific project and timeline in mind until my stash is gone. (yes, yes... box blah blah)  So needless to say I was THRILLED to get this in my Yarnbox this month so I can try it out!

The yarn is 2 skeins of Mrs. Crosby, Carpet Bag, and the color I received is called Hollywood Cerise.  Each skein has 240 yards of yarn and is a DK to light Worsted weight.  It is made of 80% Superwash Merino Wool and 20% Silk. This yarn is even machine washable and dryable (until just damp). Carpet Bag retails for $23 per skein (although its on closeout right now at Webs)

I love how this color looks so bright in some light and so dark and rich in others!  Also this yarn has a kind of rustic feel to it. The strand is not entirely uniform so it goes from thicker to a little bit thinner. The variation is not too extreme like other yarns I've run into so it actually adds character instead of being frustrating.

Also included in the box is a sample of Soak Scentless Wash with a retail value of $1.38.  I love Soak products ever since I bought my first bottle Unleash from Ravelry (love that scent) That being said, its always nice to have a scent-free version for the people who have allergies that I knit for!

Since everyone received the same weight yarn this month there were only 2 patterns that were included.  I'm not about to complain seeing as how they are both beautiful shawl patterns!

The first pattern is a knit and is by Gabrielle Henry is called Kala Shawl. This retails on Ravelry for $5:

The second pattern included is a crochet pattern by Sara Peterson called Budding Crocus Shawl and also retails for $5:

Now I don't crochet at all so this pattern will never be made by me, however, I think it's adorable!

I'm very excited to work with this lovely yarn.  It feels luxurious and smooth like silk (of course because it has silk in it!). I'm almost thinking of buying a few more skeins and tackling a larger project with it because this color is AMAZING!

Again I am happy with the value of this June's Yarnbox. All totaled up it is worth $57 and I paid $40 for the box. $17 off? Not bad.

What colors did you all end up with?  I really don't think there could be a loser this month because this yarn is just sooooo squishy soft!

Is there a brave soul out there that is going to knit up the shawl or do you have other plans?

Be kind to thyselves
